Analysis and Symbolism
Dogon doors are far more than simple barriers: they protect homes from spirits and intrusions, while also narrating the lineage and memory of ancestors. This impressive piece is densely carved with stylized ancestral figures, arranged rhythmically and vertically from top to bottom. Each figure evokes a protector, a benevolent spirit, or a familial memory. The carved lock adds both ritual and technical value to the piece. A rare item due to its high density of figures and excellent state of preservation.
