Ngil

The Ngil ethnicity originates from Gabon, mainly from the Ngounié region. The Ngil are known for their practice of ritual dance, which is one of the most famous masked dances in Central Africa. The dancers wear an elaborate white mask adorned with leopard hair and ostrich feathers, and they also wear raffia tunics that cover their bodies.

The Ngil dance is an important ceremony for the Ngil because it is supposed to protect the community against evil spirits and bad spirits. The ceremony involves a series of dances and songs that last for several days, and it is often followed by an animal sacrifice ceremony.

Ngil masks are considered important art objects and are highly valued by collectors of African art. The masks are often used in ceremonies and festivals in many parts of Africa and are considered symbols of Ngil culture and tradition.
